Château Gassies Wedding Photographer – Latresne, near Bordeaux
Just a few kilometres from Bordeaux, on the hillside above the right bank of the Garonne, Château Gassies in Latresne is one of the most elegant wedding venues in the region. As a Bordeaux wedding photographer recommended by the château, I return to this estate regularly. A Restored 18th-Century Estate above the Garonne
Built in 1775, Château Gassies is a former wine estate set on 14 hectares. Three buildings frame a formal French garden, and the whole estate looks out over the Garonne valley and towards Bordeaux.
The current owners spent four years restoring it, around sixteen months for each building, working with local craftsmen who specialise in château restoration and use only authentic materials. The result respects the 18th-century Bordeaux architecture while giving the estate a new life. Château Gassies reopened its doors for private events in April 2019.
What Sets Château Gassies Apart
Two things set it apart: how quickly you reach Château Gassies from Bordeaux’s train station, which matters for guests flying or travelling in from abroad, and its position on the old hillside, with sweeping views over the river.
Château Gassies offers a sweeping view over the south of the Gironde, on the right bank of the Garonne: a real pleasure during a wedding cocktail hour on the château’s terrace.

Your Wedding Day at Château Gassies
A Ceremony beneath the Cedar of Lebanon
The size of the park allows for a symbolic outdoor ceremony. A cedar of Lebanon around a hundred years old has always stood at Château Gassies. Its wide branches shelter the couple portraits, and the surrounding trees offer space for your ceremony set-up with your wedding planner: chairs, a floral arch, the officiant’s lectern.
Cocktail Hour on the West Terrace
The west-facing terrace overlooks the right bank of the Garonne. At sunset, it becomes the natural setting for your cocktail hour, especially in summer, with the cedar close by.
Dinner and Dancing in the Former Wine Cellar
The reception hall is the estate’s former chai, where the wine was once made and stored. With 190 square metres, it can welcome up to 150 guests for a seated dinner with your caterer, in an elegant and refined atmosphere.

A Wedding Weekend at the Château
Château Gassies is designed for couples who wish to stay with their guests and turn their wedding into a weekend.
Suites and Guest Houses
- Five suites of 30 to 47 square metres, each decorated differently in the spirit of the château with a contemporary touch. All of them have air conditioning and a private bathroom with a separate toilet, and breakfast is included. Four have a large double bed and the smallest has two single beds.
- Three guest houses (gîtes) of 65 to 220 square metres, each with a kitchen and dining room. They suit your witnesses, close friends or family travelling from afar, who can share meals and spend real time together.
My Prices
Pools, Spa and Sunday Brunch
The estate has two heated swimming pools with terraces, for a little sunbathing in summer. For guests staying at the château in summer, the pool is ideal for relaxing, or for a pool party or a brunch during your wedding weekend.
For weddings out of season, you can enjoy them too, as they are heated!
A short note about the food side of your wedding at Château Gassies: if you would like a Sunday brunch the day after your wedding, you can have it by the pool!
A spa is also available to guests, with a sauna, hammam, massage room and fitness room, which is very pleasant after a good workout. In partnership with the brand Thémaé, the château offers a range of organic face and body care products.
As you will have gathered, Château Gassies is all about relaxation, well-being and sport!

Where exactly is Château Gassies?
Château Gassies is at 26 route de Brun, 33360 Latresne, about 9 kilometres south-east of Bordeaux, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of south-west France. It sits in a green, peaceful setting with views over the Garonne and the city of Bordeaux.
Is there parking on site?
Yes, there is a car park with 56 spaces at the entrance to the château.
Is the château accessible to guests with reduced mobility?
Yes. The château can also provide an electric buggy, driven by the estate’s team.
Is there a lounge for shared breakfasts or quiet moments?
There is no lounge inside the château itself, but the Orangerie, in one of the two outbuildings, is enclosed and full of light, and is perfect for a breakfast or brunch.
Are towels provided for the spa and the pools?
Yes, the château’s team provides towels.
Can the château arrange a babysitter for the evening?
The château does not offer this service, but the estate may be able to recommend local childcare agencies.
Is it difficult to find a date during the holiday season?
School holiday periods between April and October are in high demand, at Château Gassies as at other châteaux in Gironde, so I recommend planning well in advance.
How quickly will you reply to my enquiry?
