A Rainy Autumn Farm Wedding at Ferme du Moulinat

Real Weddings

La Ferme du Moulinat lies in Gironde, in the village of Loubens. Let me take you back to this wedding at an authentic family farm, where a love of the land and of family heritage goes hand in hand with the love of our newlyweds and their families.

Getting Married on a Family Farm in Gironde

The history of Ferme du Moulinat goes back to the 19th century. The farm is known for raising quality poultry, above all ducks for the foie gras of south-west France.

Ferme du Moulinat opened its doors to the public in 2001 to sell its fresh produce. It is run by the Fazembat family: parents and children have worked together on the farm since 2013. The children brought a fresh eye to the environment and to farming, and the cereal crops are now exclusively organic.

After 2015, Ferme du Moulinat changed once again and began welcoming couples to celebrate their weddings there.

I discovered a place that won my heart instantly. This family farm is run by a close-knit, warm-hearted family with a passion for what they do and for people.

The Newlyweds of Ferme du Moulinat

Amandine and Jérôme were married at Ferme du Moulinat in October 2020.

They chose me as their wedding photographer for my Fine Art photography style. As luck would have it, Amandine and Jérôme work together in their own video and photography company, Nwes. What an honour to be trusted with the wedding photos of two image professionals!

Naturally, they surrounded themselves with event suppliers they had long admired, for their outfits, the music and the planning alike.

They also wanted to add their own personal touch to the beautiful decoration of the day.

I was also glad to see that the couple had made their celebration safe, with a strict health protocol that let everyone enjoy the party without taking any risks.

A rainy wedding, a happy wedding at Ferme du Moulinat

Stéphanie Denis of Célébrons l’Amour planned Amandine and Jérôme’s wedding, as well as their humanist ceremony, held outside the farm under a marquee because of the weather.

The preparations took place in the farm’s annex building, which houses its bed and breakfast.

This grand, imposing stone house is entirely covered in ivy. Its mix of shimmering green and reddish-orange, together with the damp weather, gave the wedding an autumnal mood. Absolutely beautiful!

The couple photos were taken at the Moulin de Loubens, next to Ferme du Moulinat. I particularly loved this place the couple had chosen: despite the heavy rain, it was truly magical.

Amandine wore a winter bolero over her bridal outfit to cover and warm her shoulders, and carried a clear umbrella. Both came in handy, whether for getting around outside or for the couple photos at the mill! In fact, she arrived at her ceremony on her father’s arm with her umbrella open.

A rustic, countryside wedding reception

After the couple photos, family and friends made their way to the reception hall to enjoy the wedding dinner and the dancing.

The wedding hall is none other than the farm’s former tobacco-drying barn!

Once again, I found myself in an exceptional space, with its volume, its height, its stone walls and the timber framework beneath the roof. Incredible!

The reception hall at Ferme du Moulinat can seat 150 guests. Of course, Amandine and Jérôme’s wedding was a much smaller gathering. Even so, everyone took care to respect their neighbours at the table, with joy and good humour!

The tables had been beautifully decorated and set by Stéphanie and the bride, and the guests took their seats to wait for the newlyweds. Amandine and Jérôme opened the dancing with a flawless choreographed first dance!

Then came the wedding dinner, prepared by the in-house caterer with produce from the farm. The guests wore masks, and the evening was full of joy, with everyone on top form!
